Hi, my name is Annalisa Rinetti.

I would like to share with you a story that touched my heart.

Monica is a friend of mine, as well as a loving wife to Paxton and mother to three adorable children: Oliver, 11, Audrey, 9, and Vivienne, 11 months. Like many of my friends, Monica came here from Italy and decided to settle down in Los Angeles.

In January, Monica's husband, Paxton, who’s only 39, was in urgent need of a heart transplant. During the first operation (January 18th, 2011), his heart stopped, but thanks to the expertise of Doctor Alfredo Trento, Director of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Cedars-Sinai, Paxton survived.

Four more delicate operations followed. On February 2nd, 2011, doctors found a compatible donor and, 28 days later, Paxton finally had a working heart.

Paxton and Monica had always diligently paid their medical insurance, but unfortunately that only covered a small portion of their expenses.

Furthermore, like all transplant recipients, Paxton will need medicine for the rest of his life, as well as constant (and expensive) medical treatments, and almost maniacal care from his family, especially given the fact that a common cold could be lethal for him.

This is a case of a normal family that, through no fault of its own, found itself in great difficulty. It could happen to any one of us.

In moments like these, I wish I could just open my wallet and say, “How much do you need?” I wish I could just write down that number without hesitation, like a Hollywood VIP. Unfortunately, though, I can’t afford to do so, but I thought that perhaps, together, we could all give this family a helping hand, financially and morally.

That being said, we have organized a fundraiser to help Monica, Paxton and their family. So let’s spend a day with our families as well as Paxton and Monica’s family, Sunday, November 13th from 10:00 AM till 4:00 PM. For this occasion, Fabio and Chiara Conti have agreed to make their Italian restaurant Fabiolus Café available to us, with an all-you-can-eat buffet and soda, for a $25 admission payable either online or at the door. And if you feel generous, you can always donate more both at the restaurant and online, by purchasing an additional "Non attendance" ticket.

And, if you know me, you know there will be live shows, music, a raffle with some great prizes, and lots of fun.

Though the money we raise may only make a small dent in their outrageous medical bills, Monica, Paxton, Oliver, Audrey, and Vivienne also need all the smiles they can get—and those, as we all know, are free!!!!

Vi vorrei rendere partecipe di una storia che mi ha toccato il cuore.

Monica e' una mia amica, moglie innamorata di Paxton e madre premurosa di 3 bimbi: Oliver 11, Audrey 9  e Vivienne 11 mesi.

Una famiglia comune, unita  e felice, dedita al lavoro, con sogni nel cassetto e tanti sacrifici per creare un futuro solido per i loro figli.

Lo scorso gennaio, Paxton, che ha solo 39 anni, viene ricoverato d’urgenza per un problema di cuore. Durante la prima operazione (il 18 gennaio 2011) il suo cuore si ferma. Grazie all'abilità del dottor ALFREDO TRENTO, icona e primario del reparto di cardio chirurgia del Cidar Sinai, Paxton viene tenuto in vita. Si susseguono altri 4 delicati interventi. il 2 febbraio 2011 i dottori trovano un donatore compatibile e 28 giorni dopo finalmente Paxton ha un cuore che funziona.

Paxton e Monica, come ogni diligente famiglia, hanno sempre pagato un'assicurazione medica. Purtroppo l'assicurazione copre solo una piccola parte delle spese.

La situazione è disperata. Paxton deve persino tornare a lavorare da casa, visto che Monica lavora come mamma a tempo pieno occupandosi dei 3 bimbi e di Paxton e davvero non puo' fare altro.

E come se nonbastasse, come tutti coloro che subiscono un trapianto di cuore, Paxton ha bisogno di medicine a vita, cure costanti (e molto costose) in clinica e un’attenzione dei familiari quasi maniacale, soprattutto considerato ilfatto che un semplice raffreddore può risultare letale.

Insomma un'ordinaria famiglia che per fatalità si trova in un momento di grosse difficoltà senza averne nessuna colpa. Potrebbe capitare a chiunque di noi.

Questi sono i momenti in cui vorrei poter aprire il mio portafogli e dire: “Di quanto hai bisogno?” e riuscire a scrivere la cifra senza esitazione, come potrebbero fare i VIP di Hollywood. Purtroppo, però, non me lo posso permettere, quindi ho pensato che noi tutti insieme potremmo dare loro un piccolo aiuto, sia economico che morale.

Passiamo una domenica con le nostre famiglie insieme alla famiglia di Paxton e Monica, domenica 13 di novembre  dalle 10am alle 4pm.

Per l'occasione, Fabio e Chiara Conti metteranno a disposizione il loro ristorante, Fabiolus Café, e per soli $25, pagabili sia online che alla porta, potrete abbuffarvi (con il tipico “all-you-can-eat buffet”) e bere una bella bibita. In fondo Monica, Paxton, Oliver, Audrey e Vivienne hanno bisogno anche di tutti i sorrisi possibili – e quelli, si sa, sono gratis!!!!
